However I'm really short on money so I can't take the car to a shop or anything. My right light just went out and prior to this I have thought about putting HIDs in since the regular halogens weren't lighting effectively. I've seen several "slim hid conversion kits" on ebay that come with bulbs, ballasts, and brackets. I was wondering what bulb type would be optimal and is this kit everything I need to successfully install HIDs in my bmw? Thanks for the time and consideration. Any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated | | | 06-30-2011, 06:18 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Riverside ,So-Cal Posts: 725 | DONT get ebay HID's they are cheap and only last about month trust me!!! My factory housings are pretty clear too, so that's a plus. __________________ | | | 07-02-2011, 02:52 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak don't put HIDs in your stock headlights, the reflector housing isn't designed for them so the beam pattern won't shine that much farther ahead than the regular bulbs, all you'll really accomplish is making every person driving towards you at night hate you you could get the projector headlights from DDM Tuning if you want HIDs, or if you don't want to spend the money on those you can get a set of Silverstar bulbs or something similar to get some better lighting without blinding people | +1 __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 07-11-2011, 04:51 AM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jun 2011 Location: VAN Posts: 71 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak don't put HIDs in your stock headlights, the reflector housing isn't designed for them so the beam pattern won't shine that much farther ahead than the regular bulbs, all you'll really accomplish is making every person driving towards you at night hate you you could get the projector headlights from DDM Tuning if you want HIDs, or if you don't want to spend the money on those you can get a set of Silverstar bulbs or something similar to get some better lighting without blinding people | I have heard this argument over and over, I do not think it is 100% true, there are certain cars' lenses that are notoriously bad when retrofitted with HID - the Ti is not one of them - I have HID in mine right now - I also have a brand new set of projectors ready to go in - I have not ever had one single person complain or flash me with the HID in my stock housings, true it is not as good as other HID setups, but still WAY better than stock or any "silverstars" And BTW - DDM is not the place to buy lights IMO. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
