Default stock speakers

just wondering whether my speakers have been upgraded already. I bought a used car which came with sony headunit.

are the stock speakers dual cones? kinda unusual considering there is already a tweeter in the door.

cheers

i ripped EVERYTHING out of mine and replaced it with the kenwood Power Series stuff. BEST THING I EVER DID (apart from the 30ish metres of cabling it required)!!

The stock speakers have one cone with a dust cover in the center. It should say BMW on the bottom of the magnet and then also tell you it's 4 ohm or something like that. But if yours are two-way speakers(meaning they have a woofer cone and then a tweeter cone on top.) then you have something besides stock. and again if you look on the bottom of the magnet they should tell you what brand they are.

Cool, thanks

i haven't removed any panels to have a look yet, but just looking thru the grill i can see it's a dual cone speaker (not co-ax with tweeter on top, but kinda like an open cup sitting on the dust cap).

well, i might forget about upgrading the speakers then. they sound pretty decent at the moment with the bass turned up and all.

i'll just upgrade my head unit to a cd/mp3 tuner.

thanks for your help

When I brought my car I had them change my head unit over from my old car, it was a reasonably cheap one but still better than the one in the car and within a week I blew my back speakers and had to turn off all the base and wait for replacements (my brother is doing it as he is an auto sparky).

Default subs a good idea

im running two 12" subs with a 1600w amp/built in crossover, then my 6x9's are connected to my head unit. just have fun with it. U can never get too much sound coming from the car.lol

im also running 12 memphis car audio subs in my car and i have Sony Xplods
6x9's in the rear deck connected to the head unit. it sounds loud enough. i mean i can feel the air from the bass when i am driving. and i am going to put a battery cap on the amp so it wont be draining the battery for too much energy at one time.
