Default Automatic diff - what other models can it be obtained from?

Guys, seeing as mine will probably last another 50k tops i thought i'd begin to prepare by keeping a close eye on ebay for a replacement diff.

What other models can i nick one from that will fit the bill ?

The current one is the 316i compact auto.

Cheers!

I would suspect the 318ti auto would work as well. Just check the ratio; although it should be the same.

Not sure aout E30 parts. Many say it's the "same suspension" which is essentially correct, but I do not know for sure if the track is diffrent (probably) and the E30 (aside from the M3) has 4-bolt wheels; not that the flanges couldn't be changed...

The stick cars have a 3.45:1 ratio FYI.
