Default abs light

i bourght my bmw 318ti and the abs light was on so i got it checed out by bmw and they said i needed to replace the abs sensor and they quoted me £200.

So i went on ebay and bourght a new one for £20, And they said the frount left and right sensors are the same so i got one.
so took the old one out and fitted the new one the light stayed on but then went off after awhile on the motorway but if i drive slow i can feel the brake and when come to a stop it comes on again

and the new sensor i bourght off ebay the metal bit on each side of the abs are the oposite side to the one i took out do u think this is the problem

first things first.. you bought an abs sensor from ebay. and im sure the sensors would be different for front left than front right otherwise they wouldnt specify for which corner of the car it is.

well they might specify which corner so you know which one to change! They probably the same part, at least I notice on the rear sensors there are two mounting holes and only one is used, depending on which side it goes on.

make sure they are both clean and maybe try replacing the other?

Not sure why the light would come on when you stop.. maybe a bad sensor still?
