To tell you the truth, i have no idea what the amp powering is, theres no sub. but there are hookups for one, i just dont have enough money to get any.

My system sounds great. i couldnt be happier, no sub and theres still plenty of bass to go around. I do also hvae the stock multi speaker system hooked up so that might help. Never tried putting them any where else.

I got an alpine S 12 incher in the boot and am looking at adding speakers to the deck lid. Should I go with 5.25 or with 4x6? There is gonna be 2. Which do you think?

My 2 cents - 6x9's are an incredible upgrade, and there's just enough room for a 10" speaker box underneath the magnets :-)

Seriously, they provide a much fuller sound than the little 4's ever could. Hack away!

i have the same modification but i put 4 6x9 , i prove it first with a little spekaer enclosoure that i find in pepboys but sound like an ice cream truck so i put off the little boxes, with the speakers alone the sound is more clearly, also y put a 6.5 speakers in the oem spot and a 1.25 tweeter in the corner, in front i have a 6.5 component with the tweeter in the door, and interfire 1000w 4 chn. to those speakers and a direct 1000 one mono chanel 0.5 ohm for 2 15 inch alpine type R, believme is a bomb, my friend mount it for 300.00 and other 2300 for hardware, before the TI i have those system in a Civic DX....

sorry to bring up an old thread.
but i need to know how you go about wiring in 6x9's? Do you just wire the positives and negatives in with the other wires for the 4" speakers?

and ive looked at it and have no sweet clue how to remove the back speaker piece to get at the speaker/wires? i pulled the little clip out, but it doesn't come free? ive looked all over but can't quite figure it out.

I don't think it will fit without drilling some new mounting holes. Take a look at my gallery to see an easy way to put aftermarket 2 way 4" speakers into the stock location.

http://www.318ti.org/gallery/showpho...o=2878&cat=680

It is just a cheap piece of drilled metal from homedepot using the u brackets that come with most speakers. They are normally used to allow you to screw into interior trim pieces. The u is the gold piece that the screw is coming through. Kind of works like a bolt.

There is enough room to actually fit a 6x9 back there, but the opening is only like 4.5 inches wide. So part of the speaker will be blocked. You would also need some type of custom mount.

This one shows you what the botom of the rear shelf for speakers looks like with speakers and baffles mounted- http://www.318ti.org/gallery/showpho...o=2876&cat=680

No. If you just wire in with the other two speakers you will change the impedance on the stock amp and could blow it. If you know you are not using the stock amplifier and using the stock speakers off of a head unit you MAY be able to just wire them in. But you need to determine if you need to do it serial or parallel wiring and the right kind of 6x9 to get the proper impedance on the head unit. Or just get an aftermarket amplifier and stop using the stock amp. Which may require a complete re-wire. It isn't as simple as just adding two more speakers.
