I would bet the shortest way to make sure it works is to find someone you can bribe with pizza to let you trace the lines out on a M3 or whatever the motor came out of, so you can re-mock the lines up for the correct plumbing.

'97+ ti has the canister behind the rear passenger armrest area I think, M3 version may not fit, maybe have to put it in the trunk area somewhere. check out www.bmwfans.info for diagrams.

Got two of the tires mounted on two wheels! Hoping to have her up and running and tagged for the April 17th auto cross... Fender won't be fixed, but I doubt anyone will notice...

I got another code finally, something about a tank cut off switch? I found the old evap can from the 98 M3 and it still had the pat in it so the can is bouncing around in my trunk with the sensor plugged in, if the light doesn't come back on by tomorrow, I may have a winner!

Lights on again, won't know why until Monday... At least I got the drivers window to stay in the track, fourth times the charm! I also still can't figure out why the snow flake button isn't applying 12 volts to the compressor, the system is charged and works great if I jumper the compressor on. Maybe someone that has swapped a car from auto or electric climate control to manual knobs can point me in the right direction? My car has manual controls and some kind of electric harness from the M3 I THINK...

Joe,

I am afraid that you are in for issues like this with the M3 body harness grafted into the ti... Wish I had some insight to your situation, sorry...

Found out my only code for the check engine light is for Gross Evap Leak, which I expected since its still not plumbed in and just bouncing around in the trunk with the sensors plugged in, yay!

I'm going with moving the entire harness to the ti. Hopefully i can avoid the emissions issues.

Progress is looking good joe. Keep it up.

You can't just move the whole harness, you won't be able to plug things in like the tail lights...

Sure you can, I've left the relvant bits of the ti harness that the m3 harness does not have and have inserted them into the m3 harness.

if you need any sections of the wire harnessed, or the new fuel cut off/charcoal filter/gas tank, i am parting out a 97ti. i can send you random things that you need. the entire TI harness is chopped up alittle though, so you can only grab sections and you would have to splice them into the harness yourself. some are complete though.

Is this what is causing your problems?
that is the shut off valve/charcoal filter

http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33170

those are the parts.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...41&hg=16&fg=10

or gas tank itself?
