Default M44 Timing case profile gasket??

Hey Ti Community,

I am looking to get educated on a few things about the M44 1.9 engine. I'm looking to buy another BMW that has the same engine as my 318ti, and I am being told that the rear timing case profile gasket is leaking oil. My question is. Is there a front and back Timing case profile gasket? or even a top and bottom? and if they're leaking or failing what should I except to happen to the engine. and is it even worth buying at that point. I am being quoted that it will cost about 1k-1.5k to replace for labor and parts including the head gasket. Any information will be useful. I'm very new to these engines and I've been searching online for answers and have yet to find what I'm looking for.

Thanks again,
