So so so many to choose from, and so many variables... I'm tired. Anyway, if you look around for long enough, you figure out what you really want / can get I guess. (Secret confession, I'm even occasionally tossing up between the 318ti and an Altezza)... anyway, no need to comment about that. So, after a loooong week of researching, looking, and occasionally driving, I have a couple of options. This one: A bright funny-blue (eek) 1995 with 100,000 kms for $5,500NZD (62,000 miles for $3,500 USD). Colour is a bit scary. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=55581159 Or this one (below): A black (boring) 1997 with 133,000kms for $6,200NZD (ish) - (82,600 miles - $4,000 USD) I have a funny feeling you all will point me towards this one though, and tell me that the high kms (miles) is a non-issue. Over here (New Zealand), this would be considered pretty high kms. Its got an MP3 player which I want, an alarm which I want. It's got rear windows that I don't want, and wheels that I don't want. I guess I can replace the wheels for about $500 USD though. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=56022832 I could spend more money for the right car, but these ones seem nice and really well priced to me. I could spend up to about $7-$8k NZD (up to 5K USD) Anyhooo, I'd be keen to hear the feedback from all you educated 318ti scholars! Zane-O. PS: If you are really curious, you can look at the millions of options available to me in NZ by going to: http://www.trademe.co.nz/browse/cate...rder=price_asc | | | 05-08-2006, 02:29 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | I wouldn't mind getting the blue one. If you don't like the color, just get a paint job. Problem solved. What color is the interior? | | | 05-08-2006, 11:37 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Zealand Posts: 17 | Sorry - one other thing, my friend told me that the blue one doesn't have the M series body kit on it... I'm confused - it looks like it's got all the 'kit' on it to me... Ta. While the black one looks like it has the M/// body kit which probably means its a sport, which has lower springs and nicer suspension. Personally i would go with the Black one, despite the mileage. The blue looks cool though ... look for another blue one like that in sport. That owuld be sick. __________________ 1993 325is Hellrot Tribute to: 97 318ti Montreal Blue R.I.P 96 318ti Schwartz II | | | 05-09-2006, 01:09 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Zealand Posts: 17 | Bother - the black one has now sold for $4,100 USD ($6,600 NZD). I'm still hunting! I hope I'm not too much of a painful noob! Thanks for feedback so far. A sport always looks nicer for the body kit and has sportier handling. However, the blue car shown above has a california top, which is very rare. They are made in a very limited number. It depends on how much you wanna play around w/ your car. If you like moding the car yourself, then it doesn't matter if it's a sport or active. You will find in here tons of way to mod your car. __________________ Love my ti | | | 05-09-2006, 08:22 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Zealand Posts: 17 | Me & Mods Quote: Originally Posted by 96ti ...It depends on how much you wanna play around w/ your car. I'm not really mechanical, and I'm unlikely to send my car to the 'mod shop' to get spruced up all the time. Once I finally buy one, I might ask some questions about getting better performance, but that's possibly about it... we'l see. | | | 05-09-2006, 12:59 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | Have you found any other candidates besides the blue one and the sold black one? I'd like to see them. | | | 05-10-2006, 12:02 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Zealand Posts: 17 | More options... Hey, I'm kinda stoked that you are actually interested!!! I feel like I'm being a bit of a pain asking you guys what I should buy, so it's really cool that I can actually get your opinion and learn from you! This is really quite a laborious process for me. OK, the black one has now sold for $4,100 USD ($6,600 NZD). The blue one I've been a little bit put off by the weird sunroof, and the fact that it's not an M-series... but I might go and have a drive anyway. My next two options are both quite a bit more expensive, and I don't feel like I need to spend this much - but maybe I will... So here they are: [Number 1] 1998 318ti Black M-Tech 100,000kms (62,000 miles) - that's getting up there in kms for this culture. $10,000 NZD - say $6,200 USD. (I just had a thought - the conversion from Kms-Miles is the same as NZD - USD) Ha! More pictures, and details here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=55527778 [Number 2] 1997 318ti Silver Motorsport (same as M-Tech?) 110,000kms (68,000 miles) - that's getting up there in kms for this culture. $10,000 NZD - say $6,200 USD. (Approx - dunno his reserve price yet) More pictures, and details here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...56&permanent=0 OK, so there is my next two options. There is lots more information, but I'm scared to make this post too long, so i've included the links to the other information. Question: Should I just paste the 'other info' in to this post? My quick thoughts: Number 1: Black is starting to grow on me. No alarm. 6CD stack in back is cool. Number 2: Ordainary colour. Alarm. Nice Wheels! Dunno the real price yet. Looking forward to ya feedback! | | | 05-12-2006, 08:44 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | They are both nice. What exactly are you looking for in a ti? | | | 05-12-2006, 09:38 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Toronto Posts: 167 | The silver one looks sexy from the picks your showing, but then again i just love the colour silver. | | | 05-12-2006, 11:45 PM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: New Zealand Posts: 17 | Hiya, Yep, I took the black one for a drive the other day, and whilst it is younger, less kms, and really tidy, I've finally decided that black is not for me. So, I hope to go and drive the silver one today. The guys selling it is really non-communicative, and seems really difficult to deal with. I think he is also expecting way too much money for the car... but we shall see I guess. What am I looking for? Well, I guess the big thing is 'sex appeal'. ...and I don't mean I want to draw chicks - I've got my girl and she's great... I want a car that is great looking to ME. I could buy a cheaper 318ti, and spruce it up by putting body kit, mags etc on it, but that would be very expensive, and really tiresome... so I'm just looking for the nicest looking car I can get for the money really. Once I buy it, I will probably be on the forum again asking how I can get better performance - but that is really my secondary issue .
