Default AC High side leaks into Low side

Not sure if anyone here is going to know what the problem is, But here it goes.

I got my AC to work last year by adding some freon. It apparently had a slow leak. At the end of the season, the Compressor started to blow fuse 39, meaning (most likely) a short in the clutch.

This season i went to fix it. I checked the AC line, and the AC PSI on the LOW side was 125+... well, its not leaking anymore, but now the high side is internally leaking into the low side.

I lowered the pressure on the low side to 45psi. I spent a few minutes trying to jump the compressor to see if it will spin.

No such luck, but this time the fuse wasnt blowing, and the clutch wasnt engaging and spinning.

I looked at the PSI on the low side, and it was at 100psi again. I dropped the pressure to 45PSI again, and watched it. After a few seconds, i realized the pressure was quickly going up from 45 - 50 - 55 ect. in a matter of minutes it is back to 100psi.

So now i have a compressor that wont engage (even when jumped) and a leak from the high side to the low side. Does anyone know about the leak? i dont want to spend the money replacing the compressor if it wont fix that leak. The AC is a strange thing... no leak to the outside, but i got a leak on the inside!!!

I used some UV dye last year, and i dont see any leaks this year, but i assume that the dye wont be around after a few washes and some water spashing on it anyway.

Youve likely lost a check valve in the pump, or the internal vane seals.

Either way E36 pumps are cheap at a wrecking yard. Its not that common for a rotary AC pump to fail internally unless its bearings.

If you cant turn the pump its probably toast.. Or hydro-locked form the refrigerant leaking by.

Okay, thanks! I suppose i can shell out the money for a pump and dryer.

fingers crossed this will fix the problem.
