Default Mystery Switch?

Hi folks,
Queston for you all probably quite an easy one.

In my car next to the window switch, on the passenger side i have another switch that is broken, all i have there is a red bulb which illuminates when you press it, its just the actual bulb itself thats there whats this for and what cover/part am i missing off it. Been like this since ive had the car.

1999 ti.

thanks.

I suspect it's the central locking button... It's on the drivers side in US spec cars, so if it's on the passenger side of your UK car, then it would make sense..
