Default Secondary Throttle Delete

OK Here is something I've been meaning to do for a long time. Delete the secondary throttle. Basically, in front of the 'real' throttle (which is normally closed) there is a secondary throttle, which is normally open. When the ASC detects unequal wheel speed front and rear, the ASC sends a signal...

Search around here but I think you have a vacuum leak and /or intake boot leak.

And, this is a 3.2 engine (from the M3) shown here, not the same as yours at all.

But, there are a lot of people with the stock engine still, so try a search and if you don't find something, post up a new thread and I'm sure you will get more help.

PS I doubt it is the brake switch that will 'fix everything', unless you have cruise?

Yes I do have cruise and the cruise will work but the light on the dash never comes on and if I recall when I first bought the car the cruise light would work? Any idea what the common vacuum leak locations are typcially? The boot closest to the MAF has been replaced but the one upstream has not. No harm in changing or looking at it.

My question though, is if you do the secondary throttle delete which to me makes a lot of sense -- will the cruise still work?

Bumping this thread. I did this exact thing to my 1998 Ti for the exact same reason as the OP.
I am getting an ASC light on the dash.
Is there any secret to getting that out?

Thanks in advance
jimmy
