I haven't been around for around 2 years now, but I'm coming back with a vengeance: A friend of mine is parting out his E36 M3 (in order to buy its E30 predecessor), the motor of which has only 32,000 miles on it. I'm buying it, and we're going to put it in together. He knows a lot about BMWs in general, and his mechanical knowledge is far beyond my own, but neither of us have ever done this kind of swap before. I know that there used to be complete walkthroughs in here somewhere, or at least I thought, but I can't seem to find one. If someone could link me or point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful. Incidentally, he converted his engine to OBDI, and my car is currently OBDII. I saw the thread regarding getting the MPG to work, but if anyone has any other warnings or suggestions I'm all ears. I'm also planning on putting in his CLOTH vaders (sweet...); both of our seats are heated, and I was wondering if it's just plug and play with those or not. Thanks in advance for the help, and I'll be sure to keep everyone posted once I get started. __________________ --------------------------------------- '97 Hellrot 318ti - Active, 5 speed 17'' BMW Motorsport Wheels ACS-"Style" (E-Bay, haha) Racing Pedals M Frontspoiler (OEM) Alpine CDA 9827 MP3/CD Head Unit Alpine E12 Subwoofer (now stolen) Audiobahn A4002T Amp (also now stolen) Dented driver side fender (provided courtesy of blind 80 year old woman) Keyed passenger door (provided by someone who likes to key red cars) Soon to come (now that I've graduated and have a real job) S52 Engine Swap!!! Buy J!m's manual. 2. You are gonna get into trouble with inspection/emmisions with an OBDI engine in an OBDII car. 3. Heated seats swapped for heated seats is fine. I swapped base heated seats for Vader heated seats, no problems. I'm currently registered to NY, but I'm changing to Florida (conveniently) at about the same time as I do the swap, which should allow me to avoid such unpleasant situations as inspections. In fact, I may just get rid of the catalytic converter entirely in addition to the other things I'm doing (my apologies to the more environmentally inclined). I'll post here if I have more questions, and with any luck when I'm done I'll have some awesome pictures and a really bad ass ride.
