Default ID that part thread

So, I've been seeing a lot of "ID that part" or "what part is it?" type of threads lately. Well I have the idea of why not just have a thread didicated to it...
The site that can be easily used to find parts is www.realoem.com
However, there are those times when you may have a problem identifying a part or part number or even finding where it goes. Well if you are having problems just post here and one the members will surely help out. I mean, thats what we guys/gals do on the org, we help each other out.

Anyway, I even have a question. does anyone know what part number or which part it is for the underpanel under the steering wheel in the euro 318ti? It has a spot or hold and i want it to store my sunglasses there when i park.

Marv's 332ti is in the werks. Stay tuned ya'll ...

Check list: S52 swap, manual transmission swap, 3.25 LSD with M Coupe diff cover, SuperSprint muffler, M3 style mirrors, AFE intake, ASC delete, M50 Manifold swap, UUC strut bar, ZHP lighted knob, Vaders, M-tech interior, OEM armrest, AC Schintzer front lip, AC Schnitzer rear spoiler, Roof spoiler, 18'' rims, M3 front drilled brakes, LED interior lights, 3 spoke Euro style steering wheel, OEM roof spoiler and bike holder, Thule fairing, Euro tail lights, oil pressure guage, carbon fiber hood painted to original paint (still showing CF weaving), what's next to do...?

Good idea Marv. I think there should be a sticky with a link to realoem.com in it as well. There used to be a thread with links to helpful sites, but it seems like nobody ever uses it anymore.

Anyway, the part# you're looking for is 51458185748

So, I found a picture of the cubby Marv was talking about and it is freaking awesome. I took a few part numbers to the dealer and he couldn't get any of them to show up. Bummer, I'd love to have that in my car too.

It looks like the european version doesn't have the knee bolster the US car has, I'm guessing thats why we don't have the cubby stock.

So is the part (#4) a direct replacement for the piece in a USA ti? The RHD E46s have a similar compartment, but it won't work in the USA car.

I don't think so, the US ti has a knee bolster (part # 21) At the very least I think that would have to be removed.

It appears #21 isn't used on the RHD car - I thought perhaps #4 could go in its place.

I'd like to, but I'm not crazy about removing the knee bolster, just in case I ever got in an accident.

Ok, I just realized I ordered the wrong part (bolt). What I need is the 2 bolts that attach the bracket for the oil pick-up tube to the crank thing. I think they are called main rod bolts???

The bracket is number 14. I ordered 15 and 13 but the ones on the top of bracket are the ones I got incorrect.

I thought it was number 4 in this pic. but its not the right ones
