i love that video ... and it shows how lame most cops are (their skilz and WHAT they drive). 240hp (claimed for an E30 m3) vs 350hp for a LT1 camaro and he is lucky to keep up or handle anywhere near as well. almost plows into the back of him when he decides to stop. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles

The cop figures it was an E36 M3. The Camaro may have a lot of HP but the brakes are worth crap. I wonder if the thottle linkage came loose on the M3?
That cop could have killed someone when he almost t-boned the other cop car. I guess this is why in many parts of the country cops are not allow to chase. __________________ ...steven

There are schools at Summit Point Raceway and VIR where people get special training. Cops, State Department, Military. At VIR they learn to shoot through moving cars and practice persuits at night on the track with no lights. Another technique is bump and pin. The cop on the video was a menace. The Evo III puts out about 240, but I don't think that was available in the states. Stocker puts out around 190.
The Camaro pursuit cars are quite possibly the most dangerous car available. Solid beam axles? Good for running down trucks and killing rednecks (the z28 is often called the "redneck coffin"), but the Ford Police Interceptor is a much better machine for passenger cars. These things will seriously give you a run for the money.
Anyway, I'm continually astonished at the stupidity of highway patrol. __________________
