Question Component vs. Coaxial... What is your pick?

For those with aftermarket speakers what is your choice for replacements, component or coaxial/2-way speakers? I was doing some research on speaker placement and most speaker companys suggest having the tweeter and woofer down in the kick panel, exactly where our woofer is located. The only thing i'm no sure about it how the highs sound with it that low down. I just purchased some Infinity components and was planning on placing the tweeters in the corner of the dashboard, but now am thinking about just replacing it with the door tweeters. Any thoughts?

I typically prefer components but now that I'm getting older and lazier I may just go with the co-ax to keep it simple when I do it. Unless you're really interested in SQ competition, having the tweeters down low isn't going to make enough of a difference to worry about (so long as you point them up... highs are directional!).

It's actually really easy to mount the tweeters in your sail panels (inboard of your mirrors) - much easier than taking off the door panels, and you don't have to drill your dash! I have audiobahn components, 5.25 in the kick panels and the tweeters up there. They sound nice and look great - the only caveat is, I had to turn the treble down because it was so present! But it's a really nice soundstage. I'd do it again.
