Yeah on my green one it was a bit too much. With the mtech spoiler on my white one it was just fine.

Hey guys, I have a question.

I have 2 oem spoilers attached to my rear hatch. One being the Mtech hatch spoiler and the other being the roof spoiler that is attached to the very top of the hatch.

It makes the hatch A LOT heavier than a bare hatch. What shocks do you guys recommend?

I'm at well-over 6 years with the Mighty Lift C95769 and they still work just fine. No signs of any issues with the mouting points or the surrounding sheet metal. I use my hatch almost every day but also avoid letting the hatch fly up on its own "power".

Well i figured out the problem, i was trying to attach new strut to the hatch but i had only taken off one of the old struts. If you plan on installing make sure you removed both of the old struts that are on the car, if its too heavy get someone to help hold it up.

I went by pep boys and checked out the stabilus and noticed that the tips where the retainer balls go aren't exactly the same. The stock ones are completely opposite, and the blazer ones aren't. Since you guys have already installed these many times, I'm guessing it doesn't make a difference?

Default alternate struts for rear hatch.

I don't remember what they were(put them on three-four years ago).Got them at an auto supply store for about 15.00 dollars each. Was told they were comparable, they work just fine.If I remember correctly they were for an American car.

Can you rotate the shaft/ball 180 degrees?

I tried rotating the shaft on the stabilus and it wasn't moving... I'm going to try stopping at AutoZone to check out the mighty lift

Ok, the mighty lift is threaded and the strong arm is hard but you can rotate the end.

Hey guys, don't ya think that a 10 page thread on hatch struts is a bit excessive?
I know everybody has a right to have their opinion heard on here but sometimes it seems its page after page of people repeating what has already been said!
Kinda puts you off when you want a quick fix!
All i did was use a pair of struts off a Ford Mondeo (UK), little bit shorter but they work fine, fit easily, cost about $10, job done & more time to get out and enjoy driving the car!
Not trying to slag anyone off, but if you want to get so tech about how much force is needed to close the hatch etc. then really you will only be satisfied with the genuine BMW replacements regardless of the cost anyway!

I think its appropriate for the amount of questions that could arise when attempting to go out of the manufacturers recomendations and installing an aftermark part that A. Has not been tested by bmw and B is beign tested by amatuers such as yourself or I. Is it really that hard to sort threw a few pages to get an answer? Must we catagorize each topic in bright colors so that u can keep better track? I mean you urself posted about your resluts with cheap aftermarmek struts. Just let be in my opinion this thread helps more that it hurts.
