And sometimes the belt was not moving when I looked to see where the sound was coming from. I just replaced the belt 2 months ago. Any ideas on what it could be? Tensioner? Thanks. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. The AC stops blowing out cold air when the screeching is present. I've also noticed it goes away temporarily when I give it a little gas, and the air returns to chilling. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I pulled the belt off and found that the tensioner bearing had a lot of play. I put a new one on and it has been good since. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 06-26-2011, 02:07 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | I just replaced it, but I still had the same problem. So time to return that. When the car is running, it's fine. But when I turn the AC on, the belt seize and makes painfully loud screech. So that leads me to believe it's probably the compressor. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. Just be sure you have the belt removed and not to get it on the pully. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36.
