so the guy called me back this afternoon. i guess the car has 160k miles on it. he is also including a set of winter tires mounted on whatever wheels he has for the winter. he is asking 4k for it. i checked out KBB and edmunds, and they value it around 2600-3000. so i will see what its like when i see it in person i guess. let me know what you guys think about the mileage and what not. i will also ask him for maint. history and take some pics when i am out looking at it this friday.

KBB is total crap. They havn't been even close to market value on any car I've boght or sold in years. Especially on high demand cars, IE toyota, Honda, BMW. They don't make any allowance for availability which can hold the price up higher in some markets.

Rant mode off

haha, true to that. he did tell me that everything worked great and the car was in awsome condition so that makes me feel pretty good so far. my only other problem is that if i DO like it i have to figure out what i am going to do with one of my two cars i have now. i NEED the jetta gone, but if that doesnt sell then i may be able to sell my beater car. haha, theres no way i could afford insurance on 3 cars. even if 2 of them are being stored

700 bucks. and it will NOT fail you. i swear... it never failed the guy i bought it from. i think he actually went like 1 year without changing the oil in it...then when he finally did it didnt really like it, haha. that was him though....i change it every 3k to 3500 miles.

so i went and test drove the 318ti i was talking about earlier. it felt really solid. i took some pics with my camera phone when i was on the drive. heres what i found:
Red exterior, tan leather interior, 160k miles on it, ran great, nice and comfy, ...basically stock, but he did have an extra set of wheels he is throwing in with the car. the tires on it now look to be brand new winter tires...or just a deep treaded all season tire.
-the headliner had 1 spot by the A-piller where it was starting to come undone (not important).
-the windows worked excellent
-drove nice and straigt
-he just had the water pump, i think the paper said timing belt (some belt), and it had an oil leak somewhere that was fixed as well.
-i did notice two spots on the hatch where the clear coat was kind of off. once again not a big deal to me since i do have a father who is a painter.

so he is asking 4k for it, but he said he is definately willing to work on the price to make something happen.

side note. i tried doing some research on the packages, but it was a little difficult to find. it has leather so i am thinking it is the Active package, which would include the differential correct?
