For those of you who have upgraded front brakes, what do you do as far as a spare tire goes in the front? the stock spare no longer fits and i was wondering if a spare off a different e36 will fit under the car or not. any solution would be greatly appreciated. thanks -lane | | | 07-03-2006, 07:09 PM | #2 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Many people who upgrade the brake system can't put anything smaller than 17's on there car. If i upgraded to a big brake system or an m3 type set i'd have to put 17's on. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 07-03-2006, 07:09 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: MD/VA/DC Posts: 834 | what brakes do you have i have 16 spare tire brand new never used you might need to go 17s | | | 07-03-2006, 07:39 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | i have e46 325 brakes in front with 17's. the stock spare 15 inch spare doesnt fit. i was wondering how well a bigger spare will fit under the trunk. like a 16. thanks. -lane | | | 07-03-2006, 07:49 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: MD/VA/DC Posts: 834 | 16s fit fine no problem theres is room under there so 17s should fit too | | | 07-03-2006, 07:53 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | If you've only done the front brakes and you get a flat in the front you pull a good tire off the back. Put the spare on the back. Then put the good tire in place of the flat tire on the front. If you've done both front and back, carry fix-a-flat, or get a spare of the right size. | | | 07-03-2006, 08:28 PM | #7 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Your car won't fit 16's has to be a 17. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 07-03-2006, 08:41 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: MD/VA/DC Posts: 834 | i may have a 17 spare have to look if the e46 that came has a spare | | | 07-03-2006, 09:07 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Plano Texas Posts: 206 | Will a full size spare fit under the car? __________________ K&N Cone Filter with Heat Shield, Racing Dynamics Strut bar, Blisten yellow sport suspension, Clears all around, Angel eyes, Dinan Engine Chip, Infinity BassLink 10" Sub, Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel | | | 07-03-2006, 09:43 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | i like the idea that i will just move a rear tire to the front and put the spare on the rear. requires a little more work while on the side of the road, but sounds good to me. thanks. and i dont think a full size will fit in the spare carrier. not sure though. -lane | | | 07-03-2006, 09:47 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | but will 8" tires fit on the front, becasue i have staggared wheels and 7.5 in front and 8 in rear. just a thought. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
