There's a few BMW videos here, including the M5 test from the 5th Gear program on Speed Channel http://media.putfile.com/bmw_m5. The crash videos are not for the faint-hearted http://www.putfile.com/cat.php?cat=18 | | | 12-04-2005, 06:08 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Use The widescreen mode for the M5 video or the car looks scrunched. I liked this video, the music really fits. Does anyone know who did this song? http://media.putfile.com/MadU-igothigh edit: The artist is Afroman, if anybody cares. | | | 12-04-2005, 04:29 PM | #3 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | lol ... sweet. good ole afroman the m5 test was pretty damn cool. especially the way he was power sliding around the track. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 12-05-2005, 01:17 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Eric, you can tell our age, what is powersliding called now? I could never do a 50/50, but when you twist the board, and lock the rail in on the trucks, it's easier to ride out. I think Ed Templeton "invented" the trick. A search should bring up a picture. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 12-05-2005, 10:50 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | i googled 'vampire grind' on google images...but it was just a punch of vampires grinding up on each other lol from what it sounds like a primo grind/rail slide? check the attatchment...down 9 stairs...i bring the heat right there i actually got some pretty gnarly crashes on video on my computer somwhere...thatd be interesting no doubt lol __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 12-06-2005, 02:05 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | I like the term powerslide too, implying being able to break the tires loose at will through corners at high speeds. That M5 is iust incredible, it would be a dream to me to have a car like that. Imagine 200 mph in a 4000 lb 4 door sedan, being able to blow off just about anything in a straight line at any speed. With a good driver it would hang with a C5 Vette. Not a bad price really, $85K. Maybe when I retire in 6 more years I could pick one up for 50K or less. The only car I have seen that did a powerslide as well as this M5 is the '87 RUF Yellowbird, based on a 911 turbo. I have a video from a Porsche documentary I got off Speed Channel showing this car smoke the tires through a long sweeper at speeds over 100mph, on a public highway no less. The RUF Yellowbird did 0-60 in 4 and top speed of 211 mph. RUF used a normal 911 body instead of the turbo body with wide flares for aerodynamics to hit that 211 mph. All that power in the new M5 has to be addictive. What a great car to go cross-country in. | | | 12-06-2005, 03:49 AM | #13 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by aceyx Rob; try vampire grinds.
