Hey Kitty, just like Rich mentioned, put me on the list too. Will need anywhere from 1 to 3.

Many of the Z3 parts for the spare may be a "close" fit.

The Z3 and the 323ti both flip the spare over creating a recess for the battery to sit down into but the Z3 puts the battery long ways vs sideways for the 323ti but the Z3 also uses a different style of jack...

The handle and cable have the same part number for both cars on realoem.

I have you all noted down for one, and will make sure to add the spare tire wire to it!
Right now I only have one left, but I should get a few 323ti's for part out in the near future, so...

Please let me know the total for the tool tray and spare tire mounting parts.

I have a complete Z3 setup but RealOEM lists the 323ti parts as different but they must be very similar.

Any possibility of getting just the recessed battery tray section of sheet metal?

For anyone interested, I am attaching photos of the Z3 trunk pan section where the battery recess is.

Effectively, the Z3 trunk floor is the same except for the battery recess and the tire mount points for the lowering cable and retaining nut on the passenger side.

Trusted - I think those of us with swaps are interested to see if you can make this work. I don't see how it will be possible without the sheet metal below since the tire mount is offset. I'm wondering if the tire holder itself isn't different too (different P/Ns). I'm hoping that you figure out a way and that it's doable by mere mortals. Good luck sir!

That would require cutting the piece out of the car, right? In this case, I can't do that.

Thanks for the update.

Yes, that is what I was hoping was possible.

I still want the parts you can get.

Is it just this car that can't be cut up or is it the process of doing so that is the issue?

Might it be possible on one of the next 323ti car you find to get the sheet metal battery pan cut out?

The part is smaller than the Z3 one I took a photo of just the actual battery tray recess which would be easier to remove.

Whatever you are able to help with would be awesome.

Steve

Cutting it out shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I'd have to figure out shipping costs...

The next 323t should come in any time next week, I'll keep you guys posted!

You know what I'd bet those guys who want (or need) to put their batteries in the back would probably like to buy? -- Those nice thick wires that run from the battery to the front of the car.
I bet those are a bit expensive to make up over here.

Eric,
Just go to any salvage yard in the US and pull the (+) cable from any E36 Sedan or Coupe. Don't forget the power distribution block that is attached inside the E36 engine bay (next to right side fender).

Sure, that's what I would do, or use the cables I pulled out of an early 911 years ago, but I'm just saying that there may be interest from some folks here who want their installations to be as "factory" as possible.

Battery main cable is always included now when I sell these battery trays
I didn’t think about it the last time I sold the trays, but now I make sure to pull them out of the car as well
