6 years later, my turn! Jess did you ever do a write up for this?

Which prospective write up are you thinking of? Could you quote some text and the author? Maybe I am the exception or just getting old, but after six years of not thinking about this thread, my memory needs a little refreshing.

Got ya. I misread "Jess" as an exclamation differing in only one letter differing by the placement of one minor stroke.

Word, the sensor should be coming tomorrow, but I'm going to take the old one out and inspect it tonight.

Glad you know what to do. My dash light is out also. Thanks for the heads up.

It was the easiest fix. Inspect your wires for the lighter, shift knob, etc. Then fix them if busted.

Then remove cluster and trim in front of it, unclip switch, push out, take off with trim, etc. Unclip, and put in the new one, reverse install, done.

Thought I'd post some alternative sources for this switch. Standard Motor Products HLS-1493. But best deal I found was Intermotor S10360 at Advance Auto. Got it online with 10% discount and free shipping. List $50.99, final $43!

Still trying to figure out how to repair mine. Need to get rheostat assembly out of case in order to solder it back.
