Default A code with nowhere to put it

Hey guys, I need some help again. Long story short, dead battery so goes the radio. When I dug out the five digit code I noticed there was no where to put it. I recall last time I changed the battery the radio said code -----. That was a no brainer, just popped the digits and had tunes. This time however the code message doesn't come up. I've tried the usual fixes like leaving the radio on for an hour and not using the car for 24 hours, but still no code messages. This this ever happen to anyone. Thanks for the forum and any help.. Steve

So what exactly is the issue/problem and what does your radio say?

Is your radio powering on?
I assume its is not playing tunes or you can't access the radio etc.
What does it say on the LCD?
What happens when you push any of the buttons?

Default Nothing

That's exactly the problem. Last time I changed the battery the readout on the radio said CODE-----. I punched in the five digit code and we were good to go. Now this time the digital readout on the radio is blank. It does power up as the readout is lighted, but the CODE----- is not there. Also I noticed the blinking security LCD is not blinking anymore. Don't know if that means anything. I've checked the three fuses and they are good. I've done the usual fixes like leaving the radio on for an hour and still nothing shows up for the CODE input. Now my daughter did jump the battery to get the car started so I'm thinking now perhaps a power surge did something to the radio?????? Any ideas?

Ok,

The alarm LED is not going to blink once the key is in and turned in the car to ON, ACC or RUN. However, when you have the key removed, it should blink then. If not, you may want to consult the manual for the wiring of what goes into the radio. There may be a fuse or relay somewhere else (not under the hood) that is blown.

Also, I'd suggest pulling out the radio. If something is actually blown, you may see signs of damage if it happened at the connectors. It may also help to just disconnect the harness and reconnect it.

Thanks zboot, I tried everytrhing you said. In fact when I pulled the radio, that's when I found the third fuse. The radio actually looks real good with no smells of any electrical problems or visiblr burn marks. I don't think it's worth repairing so I probably look around for a new unit. Anybody got any after market suggestions?

Have you tried just entering the code? I don't recall that mine prompted me for a code when I had it. I know my Honda printed CODE on the screen.
