Default A simple yet stupid question to clarify

I have 30% window tinting on my front 2 windows. I got a ticket for them a few weeks ago. Now, my question is does 30% mean that it is 30% dark and allows 70% light through or does it mean that it only lets 30% of light through and blocks 70%? If it is 30% dark and allows 70% light through my tint is legal in PA... Help, please! Thanks

if this helps ...

the lower percent the darker the tint.

so it would judge by the amount of light let in. 10% limo tint lets very little light in.

so i would say your legal limit in PA would be 70% tint.

and your tint only allows 30% light in

the percentage is the light blocked, my 5% tint blocks 95% of the light that hits it

Thank you. I am taking the ticket to court because I am pretty sure my tint is legal. I just didn't want to be wrong and show up in court and look stupid if the cop decides to show up. The percentage is the light blocked. That is what I thought.

The percentage is the light that is allowed in from what I read here just now. Your 30% tint blocks %70 of the light.

your tint is illegal

you can have 70% tint allowed in PA and you have 30%

your tint allows 30 perscent of light in

the legal limit says you have to allow 70 percent in

The latter part is right.

Your 5% tint allows 5% light transmission, which is how tint is graded.

If it were the light blocked, you'd have 95% tint. Capisce?

No tint is legal in PA, unless its from the manufacturer.

Maybe if you're talking about the windshield, but up to 70%VLT tint is legal on passenger cars/trucks.

I once had a cop show me in his "handbook" where its says that in Pennsylvania motor vehicles must have - " No exterior modifications". I wanted to die. Maybe it's just a county law?? I've never heard anyone fight a tint ticket and win. I would just pay the $106.50 and move on. Where do you live dkerchner? I never see cars with tint in western PA.

Alright, I'm thinking that in PA you have to be exempt from the sun screening law to have tint. This means you have to send in a form and a panel reviews your situation and either grants or disapproves your application. If you are approved, they give you a sticker. This sticker must be placed between the glass and the tint.

Does this make sense? or am I retarded?
