Search my posts on here and bf.c, I've explained this a dozen or so times. | | | 05-12-2007, 05:17 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Diego Posts: 73 | thous are so sick! but i dunno what rolling your fenders involves... | | | 05-12-2007, 05:18 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | I have style 5's that should be here in 6-7 days.. ive read alot about making them fit... ive heard the fender roll is extremely mild... a DIY project its such a minor roll.. but that is also on 17x8's.. not 8.5's... and of course the hubcentric rings... but ive read nothing about running a small width tire.... maybe if you have huge drop like with H&R "race" springs... I have H&R "sports", ill let you know how my install goes... which im anticipating will be as smooth as a babys butt. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 05-12-2007, 05:57 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | | | | 05-12-2007, 06:08 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | Quote: Originally Posted by Viper3812 | THISE ARE AWESOME!!! | | | 05-12-2007, 11:04 AM | #7 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by itsalifestyle800 your car looks amazing with those wheels. so if your wheels have a smaller lip, what car did they come off of? | Z3? Mine are reps, but they look exactly the same minus the raised writing lettering between the lug holes. Rondell makes a really nice 1 piece version of the style 42. I mean if you want to go widebody, you could fit just about any size wheel in there. I'd say that you're gonna have a pretty tough time trying to stuff it in there and you're definitely going to need some extensive fender work. A fender roll won't quite cut it. I'd pass on those wheels and look for something with no less than an et20 offset, unless you getting them for dirt cheap and/or want to go widebody. Keep in mind, my tires are 215/40's and it still rubs over bumps, despite my rear fenders being rolled. Those wheels are half an inch wider so you could forget about putting a 215 on them unless you want to stretch your sidewalls even more than I have. | | | 05-20-2007, 05:55 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | well i just got my 20mm offset style 5's installed and i will say, don't even attempt going with a 13mm offset, especially on a 8.5 wheel, they will stick out farther than the fenders... unless you plan on doing some extensive body work. the style 5's barely fit in the fenders, the fronts are almost flush, but even they stick out just a tad, i can't imagine if they stuck out another .5" and i have just enough camber now to make them work in the rear... rubbing isn't to much of an issue until i put any other people in the car... and im running 225/45's - its pretty much a constant rub and im only lowered 1" in the rear. Id say hunt for different wheels.. it'll be a tough haul getting those to work and look properly. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 05-20-2007, 09:03 PM | #12 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by rwd_king well i just got my 20mm offset style 5's installed and i will say, don't even attempt going with a 13mm offset, especially on a 8.5 wheel, they will stick out farther than the fenders... unless you plan on doing some extensive body work. the style 5's barely fit in the fenders, the fronts are almost flush, but even they stick out just a tad, i can't imagine if they stuck out another .5" and i have just enough camber now to make them work in the rear... rubbing isn't to much of an issue until i put any other people in the car... and im running 225/45's - its pretty much a constant rub and im only lowered 1" in the rear. I'm on 215/40's all the way around and still needed a slight roll in the rear. Only rubs over big bumps now and I can't carry passengers in the rear without rubbing. rwd_king, where's those pics? | | | 05-21-2007, 05:43 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | yeah, they are a little tall.. but with the roads around here, i don't have much choice unless im gonna bend my wheels all to hell... IIRC, you are still running stock shocks? correct? im sure the sport bilstiens help quite a bit. ill have to do a slight roll in the rear though... i had 2 people in the back of my car last night on a bumpy ass road... it was unreal, i almost made them get out lol and man you should have seen the amount of burnt tire shaving that was trapped in one of my rear fenders... OMG! lol im gonna post up a few now, but its been raining like mad here lately and tonight i just had enough time to polish them up a little and snap a few quickies... __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
