Inside the engine compartment on the firewall, there's two rubber drains that I think lead up to the windshield cowl. I've heard of these hoses getting clogged. I think they're #5 in this diagram:

I can take a picture of mine if you need me to.

After looking at that diagram, I'm curious as to what #31 is- it looks like it may be some sort of bumper for the oil pan but there is no p/n listed. My x-brace has the metal tab on the brace as shown, but nothing is attached to it like what is shown in the diagram.

Yeah, it's a rubber block. My x-brace has it.

Do you know of anywhere I can find a p/n for it? Surely it's meant to be there for a reason- I'd hate to find out first hand what that reason may be...

Thanks Jess. Though don't remember ever seeing those on my car. And after reviewing my engine install photos my car just has two big holes there instead of those drains. I hate this damn basket case.

I did stuff on all my cars over the past few days

on the 95 ti I got it back from the body shop with a new carbon fiber RD-style front lip and carbon fiber Hartge-style trunk spoiler, also installed my new custom painted style 98s with brand new Toyo tires

better pics will be up soon, it rained the day I got it from the body shop so it's still dirty

I had a friend weld a Borla can on my track car. I also installed my new 225/50R16 Dunlop Direzza Star Specs and the old front lip off my 95 ti

my E46 got the old rims off my ti installed on it and the rims I had on it before got put up for sale

I had the same leak issue on the passenger floor. My shop told me to just remove the rubber drains. I assume someone has already done that on your car, it did indeed fix the leak for me (the drains had become brittle and pretty much closed themselves up). Since yours are already gone, try checking around in there for debris. You'd be surprised how many leaves and stuff finds its way down there.

can you access those drains from the top where the cabin air filters are?

And the answer is yes. And they are completely clear.

I think it's something with the door. The water does seem to run in where the kick panel and door sill some together.

I think wolferj had a similar issue a while back.

when I drove home last night I noticed something very special about my car

with all the talk of that bulb in the headlight switch burning out I think I always just assumed that it was out in my car, never realized it still worked

I had a similar issue with my 95 coupe. I thought the issue was at the drains below the cowling at first, then I suspected the door area, but it eventually turned out to be a leak from a poorly installed replacement windshield.

Water would leak at the sides and run down behind the side kick panels. I have a thread showing the entire interior torn out trying to find the leak and trying to dry out the carpet... What a mess...
