Default Just ranting.....

So Lately I have been very indecisive,...

I own a 1996 Bmw 318ti, Black. Last summer I loved cruising around zipping in and out of traffic.

My car has 160,xxx on it but Runs very smooth, Last year I had BMW do the starter fuel pump, alternator and belts.

I drove my car into a put hole and I dented a rim wich will cost me about $150.00 to fix.

My car has now been parked for about 5 months and I have been driving my truck for the winter months..... I am looking at bringing my car back out, but it will need:

Pads and roters all the way around, new ball joint front drivers side, O2 sensor, and thermostat fan resistor replaced.
There is also a small scrape on the rear bumper that was quoted at $150.00 to fix.

I like the car and all, but I "feel" like I have outgrown it and its time for a chance, I no longer "love it" and really am not sure if I even want to put the money in to the car. I bought front rotors and pads today, and I plan on doing the project this weekend, I also bought a new battery seeing as how it has sat soooo long.

also when its cold my mufler sounds like crap, very zzzZZZZzzZZZzzz' ish, like a lawnmower or an rc airplane or smething...

I am getting tired of thw 13 mpg my Blazr Zr-2 gets, so I know I need to do something.... But should I keep this car with the maintance it needs and the milage it has !?, Its a shame cuz I have a nice mp3 stereo in it and A/eyes HID lights on the car from Umnitza.

But is this car worth dropping like $1500.00 more on ?!? or do you think from what I described, its lived its full life... It also Is very stuffy now, and has a few scratches in the drivers side window....

Its just a base TI.... Nothing too special.

I the end it all comes down to what you think will be best. If it were up to me however i would keep the ti, i love it too much to let it go.

I'd fix the problems before trying to sell it.

I'd fix the problems first then drive it around for a bit. If you don't have the excitment for it anymore then sell it.

Go drive another car, then drive your car.

That usually does it for me. I hate all other cars except mine.

I would fix it and keep it if I were you I have 163xxx miles on the car track it often and it has been dead reliable. I have driven quite a few fast new BMWs, but I still like mine as much or more. It really is a true drivers car without all the modern computers and idiot savers.

I guess I lost a bit of love for my car last year when it slowly started declining... I spent like $800 at the dealership to get a new starter and fuel pump, that it needed in order to move anywhere, and I had to pay towing.

So, I had it fixed, then I bought 17" rims and tires... and some di*k head left a cover off of a manhole and on a rainy night I drove right into it, and Really dented my rim and broke all the belts in my tire. So I had to put the stock 14 or 15's on there with the hubcaps.... and in doing that I noticed it needed brakes and rotors.... and when I parked it for the winter, the brakes were grinding...

Then I drove it like 2 weeks ago for 2 hrs and the check engine light is on,.... which is probally the o2 sensor.

So Its just a depressing story...., Even more depressing is I was so frusterated that I just parked the damn thing and picked up a truck for the winter months, not knowing it got like 12mpg.

So tomorrow I start working on it.... lordy, lordy...

+1. Other cars just feel like they suck compared to my ti.

As a previous owner of a is 300, mr2, and other sedans (yuck), my 318 is the most enjoyable car I have ever driven. Not the fastest or the best looking but damn its fun. I think I will be modifying and improving mine for a very long time.

ok look at it this way, you can either spend $1500 on fixing a already good car that is running, just needs little maintance, or you can spend $15,000 on a new car that will eventually have problems also. Keep the ti, since you have a truck that you can drive, use that for when and if the ti isnt in running condition. if you get rid of it, you might end up regretting it.

I am driving my ti till the day it dies.

I would also fix the car, Hey I am currently replacing the entire engine. I love my car. If you decided to sell the car and get something else might I suggest test driving a new C6 Vette - I have a customer that has one that he let me drive and that car is soo nice. I was dead set on an M3 until I drove the C6 50/50 weight dist, just like most BMW's and it has crazy amounts of power.

My ti just hit 164,000 miles just the other day and it is still running like it only has 16,000 miles on it. I've just been maintaining it which is WAY cheaper than purchasing a new car. Plus, insurance is very low on my 95' ti.

I love the styling of the ti. I'm in AZ and there are not that many out here. And if they are out here, they are not fixed up to look nice. Eventhough my ti basically needs a paint job, I still turn heads.

There is not much that is more satisfying than having someone pull up in his $100,000+ "bling bling" auto next to you at a light and you glance over and he/she is getting a look-see at your "baby." Ditch the new car idea! Keep the ti. Worst comes to worst, if you have too many miles on it or have to rebuild the engine or something, it would still be cheaper and more enjoyable than a new car.

Good Times!
