Default How do I read a wiring diagram ?

Hi all,

I am retrofitting a OBC on a Compact. I have all the bits, including the BMW wiring loom kit and the BMW installation procedure.

And now for my problem - it tells me to connect one group of wires to the "fan connector box" at locations "x182, X183, X188, X1182, X1019 and X1067"

How on earth (or where) can I find out where these references refer to ?

I have a reasonable idea but want to be sure because the procedure says that wire colours may have changed and so, stick to the codes

These connector locations are all laid out in the BMW wiring diagrams, available on ebay along with the parts catalog and other handy info. Pretty cheap, too. Buy them, and you will never regret it. You are looking for the ETM2 (electronic troubleshooting manual pt 2, includes E36, Z3, and compact.)

Hi there,

I have the ETM2 but I cannot see anywhere that has pics of where the parts or connectors that are referred to actually are. I am looking for the fan connector box and think I have found what I'm looking for but, assuming I have found the right place, is there a sequence to the numbering system used - how would I know which one was X183
