Default Gas Pedal Stopper

Does anyone know if the long bolt/metal pole under my gas pedal is removable? Does this allow the gas pedal to travel further towards the floor? Or is it very bad for the car to do so. I'm guessing it's one or the other.

It can be removed/adjusted. Allowing it to move any further may not do any good, though, if it already opens the throttle all the way. It could be bad bcause it can put undue stress on the cable/pedal if you are flooring it and stretching the cable instead of stopping on the bolt.

It's a fuel-injected motor. You can pin it to the floor, but only so much fuel is going to be spit into the cylinder.

If it's just because of ergonomics, you can remove/adjust the bolt, but adjust the throttle cable so you don't stretch it like moosehead says.
