Said it was my Cam Shaft Sensor. The estimit to get it replaced was $375. Is this good? Can I replace this myself, or is it too much of a pain in the ass to take off the intake manifold and all that. Anyone ever done this? __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights. If the sensor isn't affecting the engine's performance I'd save the money. Just check the codes every now and again to make sure that's the only one. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 09-28-2006, 05:42 PM | #3 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | YIKES! My indy mechanic charged me $188.00 for... fuel filter... hose clamps... oil... oil change... oil filter... cam sensor. The cam sensor itself cost me $96. So, yeah, I'd say that $375 is a little steep for just changing the sensor. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! The hardest part is removing the top of the intake from the lower half. Three bolts and you can pull it off and flop it to the side so you can get at the connector. While you are there, spend the $15 and get a new gasket set from the dealer for the manifold joint. Might also want to check the vacuume lines while you are down there. The lines that run from the injectors to the intake will run you about $50 | | | 09-28-2006, 07:29 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Lake George, NY Posts: 338 | yeah i got the CEL for the cam sensor a while back and i shelled out the $100 for the part. Once i got the sensor in the mail the CEL went off and its been off for 2 months now... so i'd give it some time if i were you just to see if it corrects itself | | | 09-28-2006, 07:32 PM | #6 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by campaiar If the sensor isn't affecting the engine's performance I'd save the money.
