Default Hate to be that guy, but oil questions

So, I come from an e46 where I use Mobil 1 0w40, I've looked around and others use it in their ti as well. I'm fine with that. But e46 guys are all about the 6-15k mile oil change intervals. I usually did about 6-8k changes with great results. How often do you guys change? Also, what filters do you use? I generally like the Bosch paper filters but you always hear about disintegration problems and they were quite fragile after 8k miles but they always held up. Again, sorry to open Pandora's Box. I don't care to hear all the oil specs and and what not. BTW I live in Texas. We do get cold weather but it may only freeze a couples weeks out of the year at most. Thanks guys

Knecht filters are way to go, just as Shell 10w40

I've never heard of a knecht filter. I guess nobody else uses oil in their cars...

I personally use Mobil 1 0W-40 and a Mann filter and change around 5Kish. All year round and I am hard on the car. Never sent a sample to Blackstone. Mainly highway miles now and average 33mpg. Oil thread: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3492

I went with Mobil 1 0w40 for ease of use, couldn't find anything other than the store brand filter. Depending on how it holds up, I might just buy online.

I'm specifically in Cleburne Tx. Just south of the dfw. Any Ti meets? I've never seen one other than mine.

Not me. It's an environmental hazard...

Yup, M1 0-40 in 2 M42's and an M54, and roughly every 6k on the M42's,
as their cold start cycle seems to contaminate the oil faster than the M54.
Or maybe it's just the age/abuse/PCV system or missing 2 cylinders...
