Default How much did your insurance go up?

Well, I went to court this morning and got slapped with two points on my license for speeding. It was pretty stupid of me, and I'm not b*tching about it because yeah, it was my own fault (but needless to say, I can't help but be a little upset).

Anyways, anyone else here ever get a couple points? I'm wondering how much my insurance is going to go up so I can brace myself. How much did your insurance rate increase, those who've gotten points?

Two summers ago on the way to waterfest I got a ticket in Delaware right in front of the toll booths. It was for 30 in a 25...Cop was cool though and told me I won't get any points since I'm from MD. Ticket was only for $40 so I just paid it and didn't think anything of it.

Insurance still went up...I can't tell you exactly how much because I honestly don't remember but it was not insignificant.

You should definitely go to court, I'm not saying you'll get everything dropped but it doesn't hurt. Shows the judge that you do care about your actions and maybe he/she will lower the fines.

Dude, I've already been to court...and that got me the two points and a fine increase

The judge wasn't friendly in the least no matter how polite I was, and really seemed to act like I committed a serious crime. He asked me what kind of car I was driving, and when I said "a BMW 325" he scoffed and said, "well that figures."

I won't sit here and b***h about it, as it's done and over with and I can't do anything about it now. It's my own fault anyway, but it's kinda frustrating when I know there are terrible drivers on the road causing accidents and flying down the highway, weaving at 100+, and I get 2 points, insurance price hikes from a stupid 15mph over ticket.

Wow I am sorry to hear that, doesn't seem fair to have a judge who is so openly biased. I have spoken to my insurance rep and she told me that the insurance company doesn't even care how fast I was going, just the fact that I got a ticket made it go up.

Talk to the insurance company and see if there is anything you can do to get discounts. Maybe take a driver improvement class or get the good grades discount if you don't already.

Yeah I was pretty annoyed. I'll have to contact the insurance co, that's a good idea.

I've never heard of just two points upping insurance. Not in MD anyway.
I averaged a speeding ticket every 1.5 - 2 years.
I had a judge who told me he thought the cop already lowered the speed on the ticket. The cop didn't.

Amazing what cops and judges get away saying.

I have had 14 point ticket. It was dropped to a 5 point ticket. But this was when i was 16. So it was cleared from my record when i turned 18. But i also got a 2 point ticket a couple of months after i turned 18. I don't know about insurance since it's under my dads name. Insurance would be too expensive for me right now, since im a broke college student.
