well the remote wire is allowing power though it even tho it shouldn't. and it's hooked up correctly. but tomorrow once i wake up ill go wire up all the speakers again. any one have any idea why a plug and play aftermarket autozone adapter is not turning on the amp in the back?

@cooljess. you are right, i would never use speaker wire. i would use a min of 10AWG on that small system, but since i have rolls and rolls of 4awg, i would make them take 4awg wire as the smallest wire.

the reason you are suppose to put a fuse withing 8 inchs of the battery is because the closer to the battery the safer you are. it does not matter how far away it is, but you need one as soon as you pull power off of the battery. other wise, any wire between the fuse and the battery is Unsafe.

say, if you drill a hole and run the cable behind your glovebox, THEN you use a fuse, any wire between the fuse and battery can start a serious fire. lets say if the rubber that is inserted inside the hole falls out and the wire rubbers into your metal frame, then you will have an instant short on a wire that is not fused, and you will have a huge fire.

fuses blow pretty fast, no real need to have the kill switch in your car to kill it if you do not have a large system. if you have a short circuit and your fuse is the correct size to the wire, the fuse will also blow first before the wire melts or does damage. it is also safer though to have the kill switch, and i normally install them since they are only a few $$'s and make everything so much safer.

@spazman. i do not know why it would do that. it is either a problem with your headunit, or the adapter was not made correctly. i would contact the maker of the headunit to see what wire is the remote wire. you could also use a multimeter and test the wires until you find it.

Typically they are blue or yellow on the aftermarket headunit wires, but i am not sure about adapters.

if you need 4awg wire, i can send you some along with a fuse, connections, rubber grommets, and a few other things you will need for, i do not know, $30 shipped? if you want a kill switch/circuit beaker add $8.

well i just asked my brother about the remote wire. to where it is suposto have 12 volts going through it. but the amp don't switch over to power protected. i will change the red and red and the yellow to yellow and switch them around but of course check and make sure that the one for the ignition is for the ingition

Well i wouldn't mind shipping you a little project but i don't have money for it had to put my moms rack and pin in today. so going to find a job for the next few days. but the thing is that i know people in k-town * kingman* to where i can talk with them. but meaby the igition wires might be backwards from the harness. ill send you a message later on.
