Default HELP oil change

So I just bought the 318 figured it wouldn't hurt for an oil change.

I drained the oil and put the filter i got in the car, but it wouldn't fit. drove around about a hundred miles to every store i could find, each one had the correct filter for a 95 bmw 318ti and they were not fitting. I tried one for a m44 (1996 318ti) adn the computer showed it looking like the proper one...Problem is there are none in stock in my area. I already drained all the oil and need a filter. I just put the previous one back in. The jiffy lube sticker it had said it needed to be changed at 143900 and the car only had 140800, i believe they always just slap the sticker on for 3,000 miles so I just put the old filter back in.....Will this be ok for say 5,000 miles or so. I just wanted to freshen up the oil because the guy said the car had been sitting for a year...

Does my 95 have an M44? Or maybe just a m44 style oil housing....Why is this???!!

Will this filter be ok? Should I change it? Will it be ok to put a new filter in on this brand new oil even though I have re-used the old one already? I just spent $36 on 0w40
