First answer me this does your car get power? Do your lights turn on? If you its most probably not your battery. Check these things in this order: 1) battery and battery cables 2) FUSES 3) starter and starter lines 4) Check your fuel line it could have been cut __________________ Live Everyday As If Its Your Last A friend is someone who is willing to step into a flame to save you........aka a 318ti | | | 06-28-2007, 08:58 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Downtown Historic Fredericksburg, VA Posts: 339 | DME = ECU? i don't get how a pothole would affect the ECU. __________________ now when i hit that switch, I'M BOUNCIN. | | | 06-28-2007, 09:20 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | The only way i see a pothole messing with the DME is if it shook it out of the guides which ground the DME. Check and make sure that its still intact....after you check the basics first. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 06-29-2007, 08:40 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Zimbabwe Posts: 5 | Quote: Originally Posted by M3_KILL3R you hit a pothole and it wont start after that? sounds strange how hard did you go into it? well i think you sound check these things. The dealer may be able to reprogram it, but not likely. Try turning the engine over. After a few tries, pull one of the plugs and smell for fuel. If there's no fuel, start going in that direction. With the DME/ECU, pull it out and check to make sure the actual circuit board is not cracked, and that all connections are tight. I'm not sure, but I think a dealer can bench test the ECU. If that's fine, check to make sure you have spark. If you're not getting spark (but are getting fuel, and no visible problems with the ECU), trace the ignition system back. Something might have been knocked around just a little too much. Is yours an automatic or manual? __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
