Default 1999 318ti wont start

While driving on the motorway the engine cut out. It will now turn over but not fire up. I think it has fuel but no spark. I tried a different coil pack but it made no difference. Any ideas?

well, i drive a 70 camaro. it's a little different, but if moisture gets into the distributor, i know yours is a coil pack, it will kill it. but also, check your battery/starter cables. take them off, clean them, and use the spray to prevent corrosion, one day everyone thought my starter was bad, it just clicked a lot. turned out the negative battery terminal was loose. so i would start checking the cables.

Make sure you actually have spark. Unfortunately, unlike distributor type ignition, you can't just unplug the lead cable and rub it against the ground while starting and see if any spark comes out. Best way, is to use the scan tool and see what the ECU is saying?
Good luck.

Make sure your battery and starter are in good shape.
