Default Restoring 95 ti Sport: stock or mod??

Hi guys, I just picked up a sad looking red 95 manual with sport trim. Car was in the back of a garage shop, they had bought it to do a M3 swap and ran out of money.

So now I'm starting a restoration (my second ti, I have a 98 Auto) taking care of some rust spots, suspension, brakes, water pump, the basics.

Question is go back to original Sport trim or start the mods, possible swap, etc...?

I know BMWs and I respect the original engineering of those cars. The ti Sport is a nice little package, shame to throw it away. Then again, I hear people look for those OBD1 cars as base for mods.

What people think? Thanks for the advice and opinions.

is it a clubsport? if it's just a regular sport that's not anything that special, I'd mod it

Hey tiFreak, nice short answer to the point, thanks much, I understand your choice. I'm pretty sure it's not a CS.

Lots of different ways to go; strip it and a total rebuild to just repairing/upgrading as you go.
I've done a few total rebuilds and the sheet metal is always a concern for me. My bodywork skills are non-existant and I hate it.
I have to admit I'm partial to driving an "as new" vehicle and my favorite fantasy is selling one for what I got into it! LOL!

Right now I'm contemplating taking a '96ti down to the shell and rebuilding with an s52B32.
If I can find a reasonable dry ice blaster to rip the undercoat off it's a go.
