the brakes include rotor are the same from 318 to 328 ( 286x22 ) but they are light and without endurance for the 323 to 328

Well, there you go, I learned something new. Is the law for production models or for the Rally class? I suspect the former.

If so, where does that put us who have S52's in the cars as far at that ratio, seeing the 3.2 S52 has higher power output that the 2.3 M52? A math formula I can figure out, but wondering how the law sees it?
Yes, these regulations are just for the road cars.

S52 is impossible to get legal here to e36 compact, as it exceeds the power limit. Even the m54B30 is too powerful. There is also same kind of limit for the capacity, which can be 25% bigger than the biggest engine in model series. M52B28 is pretty much the top engine allowed in compact in street use.

Interesting, we don't have any kind of power laws needing better brakes or reinforcement but at least for the brakes it might a good idea lol.

Most people in the U.S. seem to just use the e30 driveshaft + medium case diff (188?) with a m52/s52(US) and it works well enough. Even for those who push more power.

As for the brakes, doesn't the e36 328 just run vented front brakes but otherwise the caliper/rotors are basically same size? If so then the 318ti brakes should be fine for m52 at least.
The regulations are awfully restricting, yes, even I have to admit that there is some sense. Putting S38 to compact without any changes to brakes and suspension would be just simply dangerous.

E30 type 188 diff and shafts are popular conversion also here, as the type188 diff for compact is only present in 323ti which is quite rare here. 188 type diffs also seem to be capable to take some serious power and torque.

In 323ti front brake discs are vented and 318ti solid. Same size, same pad, of course different caliper and carrier to accommondate the thicker disc. Also the front suspension is same, spring and damper rates probably differ..

I have already upgraded brakes to vented discs, and IMO those are enough for long time, as the BMW extreme race series here use standard brakes. Those cars are very fast and they blast 1 hour races, equipped only with race pads (CL Brakes RC6 I think) and brake ducts.

Let's see if I'm going to keep my car road legal, at least after the m52 conversion. I'm already trailering the car to track days because it's really not a pleasure to drive in public roads any more, with semi slicks and "race" cambers, urethane engine mounts and so...
