Question, Quote: Hi, question for you, where did you get the number of 271 club sports made. I have two, one red and one black, the black is on of three I understand without a sunroof. I see you are a BMW tech so I am guessing you know the numbers just have always been interested in finding the exact number made. Thanks for your help. | Answer, Quote: I got the number by taking my chassis number (AM53701) and working out going both directions until the production run ended. They were all produced in succession one after the next. AM53460 to AM53731 is the production range. | That is just so cool that you did this. I have been curious about this number as well, Thank you. I remember seeing this over at Bimmerforums awhile back and did not know the source of the info, now I know. I would like clarification on the chassis numbers if you do not mind. Was AM53460 a Club Sport? And was AM53731 also a Club Sport? If so, then there were actually 272 made, not 271. Just for historical and mathematical accuracy's sake. Good luck on your sale! __________________ (00=[][]=00) _______________ ________ Steve Still looking for a monthy driver 1988 M3 parked 1967 2000cs parked | | | 01-31-2010, 01:28 AM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | But there is no way to tell how many Club Sports are without a sunroof unless someone with a lot of times on their hands looked at every build for every VIN. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-01-2010, 05:58 AM | #24 | Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: The Burgh Posts: 56 | 24 hours to go in the auction. Strictly armchair quarterbacking here but,,, Remove the word RARE from the ad. Its overused by car salesmen a lot. Sets off flags with most car guys I know... The fact is 318ti's were "cheap" cars. They sell to a niche market and folks in the know,, know and those that don't wont care... Just thinking... Dave | Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's not rare. 1 of 271 is rare IMO. | | | 02-08-2010, 03:17 AM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | I never said it was not rare, I said the word rare is overused and puts off some folks. Just trying to help... Heck Yugos bring ridiculous prices on E-bay these days. lol... It will be interesting to see how the 318ti does over the 20 year mark when most cars gain their collectible value. Usually the first collectible rush is only going to be extremely low mile cars with 10 grading. Unless someone does something that really get folks attention in one... Like setting the under 2 liter record at the Silverstate...
