I bought a production 2/96 318ti this week. It needs brakes I want to upgrade to 330 calipers, pads and rotors. The car has 17" Bayern wheels. Can someone PLEASE simply tell me what year and model 330 i use as reference when I order the calipers... I want vented rotors when I'm done. Am I missing anything? AND HOW DO I GET THIS SITE OFF OF THE MOBILE FORMAT??! | | | 08-07-2015, 10:23 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | 2001-2005 330i 2001-2006 330ci ...but why do you need to do that upgrade? You can simply upgrade the pads on your stock brakes and easily overcome the grip of most street tires. If heat is an issue you can upgrade to the vented version of the stock rotors. You're adding unsprung and rotating weight so there should be some benefit that outweighs the drawbacks. Quote: Originally Posted by JMorgan I bought a production 2/96 318ti this week. Youll need to change/upgrade the rears as well | | | 08-08-2015, 12:41 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | E34 rear calipers work to even that out. My Clubsport is actually running E46 330 fronts and E34 525 rears with Hawk HP Plus pads. On 320 treadware tires locking up the brakes at and speed is quick and easy. However, it will soon be on some 245 square 200 treadware stickies and off to the track. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! But it needs brakes now and I hate spending money twice. Still looking for the right deal for a crashed car or a package deal on the parts/systems needed. | | | 08-08-2015, 03:06 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | See post #2 JMorgan. You need the 330 carriers as well. All you need for the rear is a set of E34 525 rear calipers. The E36 M front brakes are a better way to go. The knuckles provide better geometry and the rotors are directionally vented. That is probably where I'll end up on the Clubsport. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! Do i need to do the rear 525 calips for balance? | Depends on the year 328. E36 328 96-98 (99 for the 328is) - You need the rotors, calipers and carriers. The rotors are the same diameter as your stock rotors but they are vented. The pads are the same. E46 325/328 1999-2006 - You need rotors, calipers, carriers and at least 16 inch wheels. The rotors are 300mm and vented. Pads remain the same. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE!
