Electric Radiator Fan Question

Does the ti radiator fan ever run when the air conditioning is off? I would think that if the engine were hot enough the fan should start, with or without the a/c being on. Today was hot here in Texas, but the fan did not run unless the a/c was on. Is this normal?

It should. You probably have a bad high speed relay. There's a circuit inside the relay that gets stuck open and doesn't allow the low speed relay to kick on. In other words, High Speed= A/C Low Speed= temp switch. The temp switch is a different part than the high speed relay. But people often replace the temp switch thinking it's the problem when in fact it's not. I'd replace the high speed relay before the temp switch.
