Hello all! Im Manny and ive recently purchased a 1996 318ti (manual) with the stock M44 engine! (lame) So that being said i would like to upgrade it! Please send any info on where i can buy a Mosselman M44 Turbo or another of its type that may be compatible =)......... Thank you and have a great day please send info of any better suggestions on turbos i might want to use =)
There's plenty of info about turbo's here. You just need to SEARCH for it. :-) However, if you're looking for a simple bolt-on turbo kit (similar to the DASC) for the M42/M44, you're going to be disappointed.
Good luck and happy searching!

OBX manifold off ebay $450. Garrett BB turbo quick spool from Nick G at Technique Tuning $1,200. Nick can also do the turbo Map on your BMW DME. Piping will need to be fabricated so make friends with someone that is good with a tig welder. Use stock intake manifold. OBX exhaust manifold had wastegate connection, I think.
From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. They were "Keepin it Real" when they introduced the 318ti ClubSport in '95 and the 318ti Sports from '96 to '99. After that... well nothing else really matters.

i just wanted to know where i can get a nice turbo for my M44 engine,........
Ok well I guess the question you really need to ask yourself is "Am I willing to spend twice as much as this car is worth to get a turbo that might work, or spend a couple hundred bucks running stock with a turbo and blowing my 'lame' engine?"
Thats about as far as my knowledge on the turbo subject goes for an M44 engine, and I'm not going to pretend like I know more. Realistically, an engine swap or a DASC (good luck finding one) is your best bet. But neither is going to be cheap. You can't put $400 into this motor and expect big gains. Quick equation---- $$$$$$+318ti=power not to be confused with $+318ti=power
Anyways welcome to the forum, and maybe search for the thread "Any Turbo Guys Here?" If you are actually serious about spending the cash that a turbo will require.
