Goes on ok but wont turn off .
Is this a wiper motor problem or something to do with the wiper control unit.
Has anyone else had this problem?

control unit is my guess.

When you click on the stalk to turn it off it does another couple wipes.
For years I thought it was broken.
Are you sure you are just not waiting long enough for it to turn off?
I have a problem when I turn my windshield wipers on that the rear sometimes goes on. __________________ ...steven

Once on you need to press it two times for it to shut off. So once you see it move push once let it cycle and then push it again and it shouldn't come on. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active

i used to get so mad i would just shut off the car whille i was driving to turn it off. __________________

I'm sure it used to be ok (but haven't had to use it often)

All the electrics are a bit of a mystery to a new user (me). The front wipers turn themselves off or pause while idling at the lights dont they? And start again when moving forward? And I still havent worked out the sequence for opening the sunroof to vent only, fully open , or one third open. I'm going to look now to see if I have OBC display. correct; the wipers are speed controlled (the will operate at a lower speed when at a stop, then resume when the car is moving again).
with the sunroof closed, push the forward button (as if you're closing it from fully open) to vent. back, or "open" to close the vent. then normal operation for sliding open.
