Is this a wiper motor problem or something to do with the wiper control unit. Has anyone else had this problem? (did it work okay before) | | | 04-05-2005, 01:13 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | When you click on the stalk to turn it off it does another couple wipes. For years I thought it was broken. Are you sure you are just not waiting long enough for it to turn off? I have a problem when I turn my windshield wipers on that the rear sometimes goes on. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-05-2005, 04:56 PM | #4 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Once on you need to press it two times for it to shut off. So once you see it move push once let it cycle and then push it again and it shouldn't come on. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 04-05-2005, 07:42 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: cali Posts: 338 | i used to get so mad i would just shut off the car whille i was driving to turn it off. __________________ Clean E36 | | | 04-05-2005, 08:18 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Nelson New Zealand Posts: 15 | Thanks Guys I'll investigate further and try your idea Tyler. I'm sure it used to be ok (but haven't had to use it often) If it keeps up I'll exchange the control unit. | | | 04-05-2005, 09:00 PM | #7 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Before i new how to do it i used to shut my car off and turn it back on. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 04-23-2005, 10:41 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 | All the electrics are a bit of a mystery to a new user (me). The front wipers turn themselves off or pause while idling at the lights dont they? And start again when moving forward? And I still havent worked out the sequence for opening the sunroof to vent only, fully open , or one third open. I'm going to look now to see if I have OBC display. I do think however that a lot of the operating faults I have seen discussed here may not be faults at all given the care BMW put into their vehicles. | | | 04-23-2005, 11:45 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | correct; the wipers are speed controlled (the will operate at a lower speed when at a stop, then resume when the car is moving again). with the sunroof closed, push the forward button (as if you're closing it from fully open) to vent. back, or "open" to close the vent. then normal operation for sliding open. to see if you have OBC, push in the turn signal stalk. the display should change. | | | 04-24-2005, 12:40 AM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 | So I don't have OBC display. Thanks for sunroof tips. | | | 04-24-2005, 01:19 AM | #11 | Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Boston/Florida Posts: 94 | i never use mine so i had it deleted when my car was getting painted | | | 04-24-2005, 06:24 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Quote: Originally Posted by LeslieRL So I don't have OBC display. Thanks for sunroof tips. | no problem, but thank steven for putting this board together. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
