Default what spark plugs?

Im sure this thread has probably happened already but as technology changes (and i couldnt find any descent info!) wot plugs do u all use? Iv heard good things about ngk iridium... any one use 'em?? Is there anypoint in changing from wot eva my last service mechanic put in??

didn't wanna start a new thread for this question....

i just bought a set of bosch platinum IR fusion plugs, but now i'm reading that some folks have had problems with bosch. should i return them and get the ngk BKR6EK's? will i notice and difference in mpg or performance?

I'm running the bosch platinum 2's. No problems yet.

i went ahead and returned them for the ngk's. more people recommended them and they were half the price.

now it's time to go pop the hood and pretend i know what i'm doing.

BMW does also approve the use of the newer quad electrode NGK's that are factory installed on some M52s, M54s, and newer engines. They are BKR6EQUP's. List price at the dealer is something like $20 each but NGK.com has them for just over $8 a piece. The design is supposed to be less likely to foul out and also more tolerant to numerous cold starts without the engine flooding out. I installed them in my car when I replaced my valve cover gasket. They work perfectly fine, as I would expect from a factory part. BMW also states that they are supposed to last 100K miles, although I will probably replace them at least twice as often.
