Hey everyone, I just bought a 95ti 5spd, that I really enjoy. What I am curious about is what type of fuel you fill up with? Do you use Premium, or stick with regular unleaded? The owners manual says 91+, but I just wanted to see what everyone else had to say about it. =) Thanks for the help in advance! | | | 10-31-2006, 04:16 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Virginia Posts: 247 | In the maual for my 98 it says to use 92 or 93 ... maybe the M44 is more picky... I always use Premium... no problems for me. I think quite a few people on here go lower and have had no problems. I get about 35mpg highway btw @80+mph __________________ Silver 98 318ti Standard trans, Sport Package: 16" Stock Wheels, Foglamps, Sunroof, Heated Leather Seats, Bilstein performance shocks, OEM Sach's clutch kit, Dunlop SP Sport A2 225/50/16 tires, Alpine CDA 7894, Dual Rockford Fosgate 12" subs, Rockford Fosgate Amp, Leather Armrest, Replaced M44 engine with only 40k on it! http://www.geocities.com/evalha/bmwsmaller.JPG | | | 10-31-2006, 04:44 PM | #3 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | I use regular in my ti, the only cars i'd put better gas in would be a v-8. In our cars your not going to notice a difference by putting in different gas. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 10-31-2006, 05:01 PM | #4 | doesn't care about you. They are equiped with knock sensors to automagically adjust timing for crappy fuel. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...hlight=premium __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 10-31-2006, 07:00 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Marion, IA Posts: 388 | My book suggests 93 RON or so, which is like 89 mid-grade in the US. RON is a different octane rating that we don't use directly (US uses the AKI rating). I usually run regular if I can't get mid grade without ethanol. Never had trouble knocking or with fuel economy using anything, although your driving conditions might dictate otherwise. If you are driving in high ambient temperatures and under heavy loads you should use a higher octane. | | | 10-31-2006, 07:11 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Omaha, Nebraska Posts: 11 | Thanks for the responses.
