Very reliable, doesn't use oil, never overheated (in fact radiator has to be partially blocked in winter time to get any heat out of it.) Selling the car because I have just purchased a 1998 328ti (which I will fly out to pick up on Tuesday March 3rd) and don't have room for 2 cars. I have owned the car since 2010 bought from a friend who had me maintain it for him and then for his buddy for a number of years (he bought it at just over 100,000 miles from an optometrist who was buying a BMW X3 for his new born child. Car was in Delaware for most of its life. The car is lowered with stiff suspension on 17-inch wheels so front tires rub when turning into driveways. I had hoped to put an M3 in this, but... Good: New tires 225 x 50- 17 Cooper Starfire WR's (Yeah, I know...) Brand new battery New starter (thanks for the info on 318ti to figure out that PIA job) New alternator (all new Bosch internal parts) Rebuilt power steering pump Eibach springs (12,000 miles) Bilstein shocks (12,000 miles) Glass Depo HID Headlights - no angel eyes New rear glass and struts (my hand slipped replacing strut - $360 new rear hatch glass!) 95 M3 wheels (3) & 1 each 97 M3 wheel (couldn't find a 95 M3 wheel after a pothole incident) Short throw shifter out of an M coupe Synthetic lubes throughout - Redline in trans & diff with a custom additive from my World of Outlaws days. Not so Good: Rear wheel well rust through Tree sap marked paint Small crease in passenger door- been there since 97 various dings in body Air blows cool, not cold Sunroof interior liner has to be closed manually Throw-out bearing whine (been like that for 4 years) I'm a smoker- 3 small cigarette burns in the back seat (I do include a pack of pine tree air fresheners!) Tear in front seat artistically mended with blue tent repair material (holding up well, too) Stupid brake pad light is on plus the air bag sensor light- electrical tape covers the indicator bulbs jess fine. It's solid and reliable but a bit of a beater I just put it on Ebay (more pics), here, and it will be on Craigslist, Jacksonville, Florida. If you are going to the Amelia Island Concourse next month I'm working as staff and glad to deliver it to you. I'm soooo happy none of you guys found out about the 328ti - it was on Ebay around December, and I've been watching it for quite a while. Finally called the guy this month and we agreed on a price. I had figured one of you would have taken it, but somehow you all missed it. MY car is near Jacksonville, Florida I can be reached at (704) 302-7455 I hope to be more active on this board (like how do I hook up the ABS to work with the big motor) now that I will have a modified 318ti Last edited by kstadelman; 02-26-2015 at 11:33 PM. Flew out to Baton Rouge on Tuesday to pick up a 1998 328ti with M3 head, cams, and headers. Had $1000 worth of wheels and new tires and a very fancy double adjustable suspension with springs and perches etc on it. $3800 The shop wanted it gone since the owner was now redoing an M3 so this was cash going towards the next project they were doing. 3-inch exhaust system so a very noisy 10 hour drive home. | | | 03-05-2015, 02:15 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | Lets see a photos and details in a thread. | | | 03-22-2015, 04:53 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Quote: Originally Posted by kstadelman Yeah- Sold it over the weekend. It has double adjustable shocks and custom springs with front camber mounts. Also has a 328 5-speed and 3:73 locker type diff. the rest of the car seems to be assembled with a screw driver and a pair of pliers. Lots of work left to do. When I picked it up it was pouring with a fair amount of flooding so I just hightailed it back to Florida hoping the car would stay together long enough - dash lights failed shortly after I turned on the headlights. Clutch went out 2 days after I got it home. Missed the gumbo! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
