Sure, check this out from the rule book:

(15.10 ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN)

"Q. Cylinders may be rebored to no more than .0472 in. over standard
bore and the appropriate standard oversize piston may be
substituted. This overbore dimension is an absolute limit; no
additional tolerance is permitted to accommodate wear.
<snip some other text>
R. Rotating and reciprocating parts may be balanced but not lightened.
S. Intake and exhaust ports and manifold openings may be
matched provided no change is made more than one inch from
the port/manifold interface. Material may be removed to facilitate
port matching, but no material may be added."

I don't know of anyone that's done all this stuff to an M42, however...or what good it will do.

XP allows quite a bit as long as you don't tube-frame your car. I just run there because I have a stripped interior, I'm sure that any reasonably built XP car (there's one locally with LS1 in an M3 body) would go waaay faster. Check out their Magum M3: http://www.edgemotorworks.com/iproject-cars.htm

We are from Indiana there are plenty of those motors around, but the weight is around 2400 for an LS1 xp car. I think a 400-500 turbo M42 would be much better suited to the ti. It would also be legal for C-Mod club racing.

Hmmm, I stand corrected. And my vote goes towards maybe 3-400 with the turbo m42....can't wait to drive that beast then....

I can't wait for you to pay for it in my car The power to weight would be insane. lets guesstimate 2000 lbs with cage and a bunch of cf etc. with a 400 hp 2.0 M42 the car would be scary fast.

Current fastrack is out - Looks like the 6 cylinder BMWs will still be in DSP next year. Go for XP

Maybe the ti will be more competitive in SP in 2008; they're planning a huge re-classification of all cars for then.

To say the least, for what I would end up spending to TRY to be competitive, it would almost seem more logical to pick up a early 90s Miata and run CS with a set of adjustable shocks (tokico ftw) and r-compounds. . .
