On Board Computer

I installeed a new OBC but all it does is tell time....someone told me they have to be coded, does anyone know how to code them?

I have just bought my 318ti and only the clock works and only when I press the button. The OBC button with MPG etc doesnt work so when you've fixed yours let me know.
