I stand by my statement.... niche player, small sales numbers.

But I hope I am wrong and I can still buy '1' in 3-4 years.
I think the A3 is the reason we aren't seeing a hatchback version of the 1er.

Very cool.

Seeing the 1er closely resembles 3er pricing, I would expect the $500 reward likely. Now we only need invoice pricing for US Port of Entry and ED list and invoice pricing.

I dunno if I agree with that. I think the 318ti is the reason why we won't see a hatchback. As popular as the car is here on this board, it's still shunned elsewhere. It sold horribly in the US, due to the perceived cheapness factor. I think that's the reason they are waiting until the coupe version is out, to even introduce the 1er at all to us. Also, they will never have the smaller engines in that car here either, to protect the "premium image" that they feel was tarnished by our cars.

Hard to say, but honestly I've had enough market speculation. I'm going to trust that BMW knows what I want, and be happy.

Strangely enough, this price was released at the prime time for me. I'm about to turbo my m3 and this is making me reconsider...

If they do know what you want, they aren't listening...because we aren't getting the hatch.

oh no shhhhhhh they are listening.

i wasnt supposed to let this leak but they are releasing a hatch version but only for ti owners, they are going to give us a new hatch if we currently own a ti since they feel bad about the windows and the ongoing problems with guides and motors.

they are finally making it up to us.

but shhhh this is just between me and you.

Just to confirm, my sales guy just emailed this to me:

Quote:
Hi Dusten,

Thought you would like to know that BMW just released the base price for the new 1-Series:
128i Coupe: $29,375 (with destination)
135i Coupe: $35,675 (with destination)

Hope you are doing well!

Thanks,
Chad

Now much cheaper than a 328/335 sedan. (2-3k)

About 6k less than a 328/335 coupe.

I guess my choice will be made on how small the 135 feels.

The price is close to what people were expecting. This is a BMW and not for everyone that wants a cheap pocket rocket. We'll see once the 135i comes out if it will make it or not. I think it will since most of its competitons are priced around the same range and performance wise.

A hatch can sell if it's marketed right. Look at all the other companies selling a hatch. Some of them actually are selling quite well. Just need to price it right (niche) and people will buy.

Somebody's buying them. We were going to get one for my wife this past summer, but couldn't get one. We found two in the country that had the options we wanted, but they were sold before we could get them transfered to our dealer. These figures are worldwide, but it doesn't look like they're hurting. BTW, these are very nice and I'd be all about getting one if they were rear drive.

if there are none on the lot.. either they are selling well, or they aren't and the dealers aren't ordering them... Either one works.
