Sean;

It's lousy to spend your 40th somewhere you hate, instead of with people you care about.

Your day should be a special one. So when you can, choose to celebrate this day the way it should be, properly. And on your terms! (with lots of beer and loved ones!)

Hi Guys! I thought I would post and remind you but you did it for me! Thanks! I had a great visit with Sean today, god knows I would not let him be alone on his birthday, especially the BIG 4-0!

We had a good time...planning...his dad and stepmom are driving down from Idaho at the end of June to see him (he has not seen them in 14 years!) and his oldest son Jordan is flying in to see him and meet his Grampa for the first time ever! I am so excited...you just don't know! That's the best birthday present I could ever give him! Well besides being paroled or going to the halfway house or a new Bimmer! hahahaha

I will print this out and send it to him so he can read it...he's doing really well and chafing at the bit to come home!

Have I told you lately how awesome you all are?

Default Hi guys!

I'm posting a funny for you from Sean...gotta love his sense of humor! He sent it to me from the Denver Post newspaper and I went and found it on the web for you!

It's been a very busy summer! An update on his consideration for comcor was that he was denied. We weren't surprised because we had already been warned that Denver would not take "violent" criminals back even though they lock up the most of them in state.

Now his first parole hearing is a week from Tuesday. If anyone would like to write a letter of support for him I will post the address to the parole board on my profile for you. We're not holding out much hope there either but the Governor changed the requirements for the parole board to consider and the law went into effect on July 1st so we'll see what happens. Most of the weight of their decision is based on the risk of reoffending and right now he's rated at a low risk (although I have never believed anyone can determine what someone would do in any given situation). The letters need to be to the board by next Friday and every little bit helps!

The other excitement of the summer so far is that Sean's oldest son came to visit for a couple of weeks and went to see him two weekends in a row. He's pretty immature for a 14 year old but he's never been around his dad and he's surrounded by women with no good influences. He's already been in trouble and kicked out of school so Mom decided to send him here so she could prance off to Hawaii for 10 days...just goes to show that welfare system really pays off for people!

Sean's dad also drove down from Idaho to visit with him for the first time in 13 years and it was the first time he'd met his grandson. That was a really good thing and it was cool to finally meet his dad and stepmom. Sean and his dad are two peas in a pod! It was a very short but great visit. Tonight I am finishing up his support letters to the parole board so I can mail them tomorrow. Anyway you guys are never far from our thoughts and as always we love you!

Tell me about it! She said she needed a "break". She should have thought about that 3 years ago when she wouldn't let Jordan come here to be with Sean. Now that the kid's done community service for stealing out of lockers and been kicked out school, she doesn't want to be bothered with him. We tried to tell her that would happen but oh well. He's not going to come back until Sean's home, it was a pain in the butt trying to keep him entertained while I was at work and he really needs to spend quality time with DAD. Hopefully the visits in prison gave him something to think about, but I doubt it. He's just too ADORABLE. Not!

We did go up to see Eric and Sze Lin and the ti's (they're so cozy up there), but it was a long two weeks.

Hi everyone...just thought I would let you know that as usual Sean was deferred parole until next August. 98.5% of inmates are deferred (denied) the first time. The good news is that the parole board recommended that he go to CMRC (Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center) and if he completes the program there, he needs to get into community corrections so he'll have to re-apply to that again in January. His case manager overrode his custody level to refer him to CMRC so we are keeping our fingers crossed that he will be there in a month or so. He's doing really well as the GED tutor. He's tutoring inmates in English Lit (you know how he likes to write!). His teacher said that she's never had guys with grades as high as the ones he is tutoring which is a good thing. She even threatened to write him up...lol...to keep him from being transferred.

Anyway, it's been disappointing with the deferral for another year, the parole board even said that he was NO RISK TO THE PUBLIC. They just said "INADEQUATE TIME SERVED" which is the normal decision here. He's well past 1/2 of his sentence but they don't care. I'm struggling right now to get through the rest of this year let alone another two but I am not getting my hopes up that he'll be home any sooner than May of 2012. This disappointment is hard to take and I miss him very much.

I told him yesterday that if he's denied parole again next year, then in April 2012 I am moving to Florida and paroling him there. I hate this state that much now.
